This month we are excited to host an event for Landlords, Property Managers and all persons interested in being a landlord.

We have a panel including members from 4 organizations: Tacoma Housing Authority, King County Housing Authority, Pierce County Housing Authority and the Landlord Liaison Program. They will be sharing all of the guidelines and rules associated with the Section 8 Housing programs as well as having an extensive Q&A session. If you have renters or want to be a landlord, you DO NOT want to miss this amazing opportunity!

The LLP Program:

The Landlord Liaison Program was developed in 2018 to create long-lasting relationships between housing agencies (known as Service Providers) and property owners/managers (known as Property Partners) by educating both tenants and landlords in operational etiquette, new housing-related laws & policies, and how to supply housing units for residents of Pierce County. LLP ensures that Service Providers will continually offer support services to LLP tenants and respond rapidly to Property Partner concerns.

Since this program was developed by a real estate agent, we understand the risk of working with Service Providers, and as a result we provide incentives such as access to Risk Mitigation Funds, rent-ready tenants, educational tools for tenants & Property Partners, and 24-hour support services. LLP's goal is to provide safe and affordable housing in every school district in Pierce County. LLP also strives to successfully house previously homeless individuals and families who cannot otherwise access housing due to rental barriers. This program was developed & is managed by local real estate agent & property owner Alexis Eykel. Kiesha Triplett handles Property Partner relationships, and Tony Lewis handles project services & support tasks.

Tacoma Housing Authority:

Established in 1940, Tacoma Housing Authority provides high-quality, stable and sustainable housing and supportive services to people in need. It does this in ways that help them prosper and help our communities develop equitably. THA develops and manages real estate and provides rental housing. In partnership with thousands of private landlords, it helps families pay the rent in the private rental market. It delivers supportive services to help families succeed as “tenants, parents, students, wage earners and builders of assets who can live without assistance.” THA seeks to do its work in ways that help our community be an “attractive place to live, work, attend school, shop and play,” and that help Tacoma be “safe, vibrant, prosperous, attractive and just.” For more information about THA and its work, go to www.tacomahousing.net.

Eric Lane is the Landlord Engagement Specialist with the THA. He has been with them for over 7 years and has worked in nearly every department. In addition, he has also worked as a property manager prior to working at THA. He has a BA in Urban Studies, and a MA in Community Planning from UW-Tacoma. He’s currently working on a program to provide Renter’s Readiness Certifications.

Greg Gallagher is a REAPS Board Member. His business primarily consists of flips and wholesale deals in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties.  He is a licensed real estate broker and has been working/buying at the foreclosure auctions since 2009 for himself and for clients.  Finally, Greg is involved in real estate investing education as an instructor and coach.
